Frankenstein's bride across the decades and media

The whole idea of a bride for Frankestein’s creature is a deeply unsettling one - as is the creation of the creature himself, don’t get me wrong. Zoe L. Tongue’s new essay explores how the new film The Bride! acts in response to the original Bride of Frankenstein film, as well as other variations on TV and in literature. Tongue persuasively argues that different iterations have had quite different relationships to ideas of the monstrous, and to feminism - and that this new film is not as feminist as it might like to portray itself.
